Church of Agia Ekaterini

The church of Agia Ekaterini was built from the end of the 13th to the beginning of the 14th century, It was probably the central church of the monastery of Christ Pantodynamos. During the Ottoman period it was converted into a mosque and its frescoes were covered with plaster. Externally, the church has elegant proportions and rich ceramic decoration. The few frescoes date back to the second decade of the 14th century and represent the mature phase of Palaeolithic art in Thessaloniki.
