Bridge of Plaka

Plaka Bridge in Arachthos, a masterpiece of popular architecture, was the largest stone bridge in the Balkans, 61 metres long and 21 metres tall, with a span of 40 metres. The historic bridge collapsed in February 2015, though plans are to restore it using new technologies while retaining its original appearance. It was built in 1866 by master builder Kostas Bekas and was renowned for its beauty and the craftsmanship of the Epirotes.
