The Silk Museum | Soufli

The Silk Museum was set up in the mansion of Konstantinos Kourtidis in 1990. In the rooms and courtyard of the old mansion that dates from 1883 one can observe all the stages of silkworm breeding and silk making in thematic units. You’ll also catch up on the social and economic background of Soufli as it developed into the greatest silk-producing centre of Greece in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Authentic objects, diagrams, and old photographs illustrate the entire process of silk-making. By 2009 the Museum will have been refurbished on new museological principles.
