Tzivre Silk Mill in Soufli

A lot of silk-producing enterprises were set up in the early 20th century in Soufli, none of which exist today. The hollow cocoon houses still stand witness to the city’s past. Most impressive was the great Silk Factory Efterpe of Tzivre Brothers (1920) with its graceful chimney. The old cocoon house of Kalesi (where the cocoons of silkworms were bred) has been renovated and is now used by Soufli Municipality as a guesthouse.
