Cave of Agioi Thedoroi | Avantas

In Byzantine times, anchorite monks sought refuge in crevices amongst the rocks and in caves on the slopes and gorges of Zoneo Mountain to glorify their god with no distraction. One of these, the Agion Theodoron Cave, turned into a place of worship and was refashioned as a church. Important religious frescos are still extant inside, dating from two periods, the 11th and 13th centuries.
