The Archaeological Museum of Philippi is located within the archaeological site of Philippi, near the Municipal District of Krinidon, about 15 km from Kavala. The museum building was designed by the architects Ioannis Triantafyllidis and Dimitrios Fatouros. The museum’s exhibition presents the history of the city of Philippi, from its foundation to its decline, highlighting its connection with important historical figures such as Philip II, Octavian Augustus and Apostle Paul. The museum consists of three levels. On the ground floor, the exhibition area houses archaeological finds, historical data and illustrative material covering the period from prehistoric times to the end of Roman antiquity.
