Church of the Resurrection of the Christ | Veria

The Temple of the Resurrection of the Christ or Temple of the Christ, as it is mostly known today, was once the Catholicon (main church) of a monastery and it is found across Mitropoleos street. Its interior maintains excellent murals created by the Thessalonian painter Yiorgos Kalliergis. The artist was so much impressed by his work of art that he did not hesitate to characterize himself “the most excellent painter of all Thessaly” (= Macedonia). Murals of the 18th century are extant in the exterior walls of the temple until today.
