Watermill of Agios Germanos

The traditional watermill of Agios Germanos is the only one of the 20 watermills in the area that has been fully restored (repair of the building, reconstruction of the mechanisms and water supply system and landscaping of the surrounding area). This restoration has won a prize for the Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards, the largest European award in the field of cultural heritage. It is located on the Megali Prespa, just outside the village of Agios Germanos. Built in 1930, it was built in stone with a wooden roof and had a triple use: for grinding grain, washing textiles and for the swelling and ‘thickening’ of weavers. It is a monument to the pre-industrial heritage of Greece.
