Old Seafront

Old, beloved and unforgettable, the old waterfront is the warmest and most tender aspect of the North for the rest of Greece. It is the form that lends its expression to the entire city: when Vardaris blows, waves grow, the sea keeps its distances from people, gets isolated, overlooks Mount Olympus and speaks with the gods. On sunny days, it yearns for companionship, it wants people being on its street, people lowly whispering the melodic tunes quoting its name. For many, this old waterfront is the entire Thessaloniki. It is the citadel of the North, it is the walk with the open horizon, a journey from past to present and a starting point for new dreams. It is the first and last impression left in the memory of every visitor, a favourite postcard hiding moments of history. The White Tower stands proudly at one end to seal the identity of the site. The old waterfront is the beloved route for walkers, cyclists, visitors and travellers. It is the edge of the sea which fills with its aura the streets and hearts of people. Guests take something from it upon their leaving.
