Archaeological site of Elea

The ruins of the ancient city of Elea can be found at the foothills of the Paramythia Mountains, near the village of Chrysavgi. Elea was founded in the mid-4th century BC and was the first capital of the Thesprotian League. It featured a powerful polygonal fortification and its buildings were constructed on stepped terraces.
