Louros and Arachthos river delta

The estuaries of the Louros and Arachthos rivers, and the lagoons (Rodia, Logarou and others) comprise the Ambracian wetlands, one of the largest and most important in the Mediterranean. The northern section of the gulf is thick with reeds, undersea meadows of posidonia and hydrophilic vegetation in general which support its wealth of bird and fish life. This ecosystem of rare size and beauty is protected and promoted by the Amvrakikos Wetlands National Park management authority.
