Tower of Gattilusi

The sovereignty of Gattilusi in Samothrace begins in 1430. The Prince Palamedes Gattelouzzo fortified the totality of the island building a fortress complex of three towers on the imposing rocky hill in Paleopoli and the Killer’s Tower. The three towers of Gattilusi are constructed by ancient building materials from the nearby archaeological site. They are of quadrilateral shape and one has a height of 20 meters and is almost intact. It bears on a cornerstone the inscription of its then owners.
