Galeriu’s arch (Camara) it is situated near the eastern walls of the city, a short distance from the Kassandreotiki gate. It is decorated with sculpted depictions that have suffered significant damage from the air pollution. The triumphal arch erected by the city in 305 BC to honour the victorious Emperor Galerius upon his return from the war against the Persians is commonly called the “Kamara”. Of this monuments there remain standing only two of the principal piers and a single secondary one, joined by an arch of brickwork. The principal piers narrate, in marble slabs carved in relief, the Emperor’s campaigns against the Persians. In its initial form, the arch had four central piers flanked by four secondary piers, topped by four arches and crowned with a low round dome. It was connected to the palace complex to the south and the Rotοnda to the north.
