Monastery of Molyvdoskepasti

The Molyvoskepasti monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos near Konitsa, next to the Aoos River, is amongst the most notable Byzantine monasteries in Epirus. It is believed the monastery was founded in the 7th century by Emperor Konstantinos Pogonatos. The monastery chapel, a three-conch church with a tall dome, was either built or renovated in the 14th century, with wall paintings from four different phases.
