Aristotle’s school – Nymfeo

The archaeological space where the School of Aristotle is found, is almost two and a half kilometers from the city, next to the natural spring of Kefalari in the northern side of the communal road leading from Kopanos to Naoussa. The region where the school is located, although widely known from the middles of the 19th century thanks to the French traveler Delacoulonche, it remained inaccessible due to its dense vegetation up to 1965, when it was brought to light by the professor of archaeology Fotis Petsas and is being studied ever since. The archaeologist managed to identify successfully through an extensive study of the existing written sources of Plutarhus and Pliny and based on topographic observations, this particular point as the School of Aristotle.
